SPRING '08 SERVICE FOCUS

CSF wants to be a community of people committed to giving of our time, talents and resources to meet the needs of our world. This semester we have chosen to focus our service and giving in the area of URBAN ISSUES. We will do this by partnering with a number of organizations to learn about, volunteer with, and give to help people who are struggling with the various urban issues that people face who live below the poverty line in the Twin Cities. We want this semester to serve as a reminder that there are great needs we can be involved meeting not just in far off places around the world, but in our own backyards as well!

You will be given the opportunity to be involved in a number of ways:

1) Through the gift of time. You can choose to volunteer with us on a regular basis and get involved meeting the needs in our city! We will be volunteering together one Thursday night a month at different Christian organizations all across the city. Get more details by checking out our Thursday Together Group blog.
2) Through the gift of resources. Each week during our Together Groups an offering will be taken. That money will be used to pay the costs involved with our monthly volunteer opportunities, such as buying the crafts for the children's programs and the food for the shelter meals.
3) Through the gift of education. We invite you to learn more about the issues faced by those who live below the poverty line in the US (and particularly in the Twin Cities). One way you can do this is by attending the Revamp Conference in Minneapolis on Feb 8 & 9. This conference is designed to help people discover Jesus' heart for the poor and learn how to follow his example in this area. Another way you can learn more is by attending our Thursday Together Group, which will meet weekly from 5-7 pm and will discuss issues of social justice and service from a Biblical perspective.
